Le Cordon Bleu-trained Chef and Restaurateur Scotley Innis, along with business partner Aliya Huey, have unveiled Continent Brooklyn.
Located at Hotel Indigo Williamsburg, Continent Brooklyn opens to the public on June 1, 2024.
This 110-seat, full-service restaurant on the garden level offers inventive food and beverage menus with inspirations from Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia, all with a Brooklyn edge.
Originally from New York City, Chef Innis’s opening of Continent Brooklyn is a homecoming. He has established himself as a culinary powerhouse in Atlanta, gaining fame through his appearances on Hell’s Kitchen, Chopped, and Late Night Eats. His Jamaican heritage heavily influences his elevated cuisine, making it a memorable combination.
“I’m excited to be back in my hometown and show the culmination of my work to this point through Continent Brooklyn,” said Chef Innis. “With the Continent brand, we have created a cool and magnetic experience based on the traditions, flavors, and techniques I’ve learned around the world.”
Continent Brooklyn features a main dining floor at the garden level of Hotel Indigo Williamsburg. The venue includes two adjoining dining rooms with two-story windows facing a garden, a full-service restaurant bar, an upstairs bar lounge with premium spirits, and a private terrace. The restaurant’s design is intimate yet vibrant, with gray and blue velvet banquettes and black dining tables, accented by eclectic decor. A custom mural by local artist Jermaine Percey Neal features dozens of faces in vibrant colors, reflecting Brooklyn’s diverse culture.
“We are thrilled to have Chef Scotley open his second dining concept at our hotel,” said Nicolas Daeppen, General Manager of Hotel Indigo Williamsburg. “Chef Innis’ passion for creating community around unique flavors will undoubtedly anchor his culinary presence in our vibrant neighborhood.”
The menu showcases international flavors with dishes like Tamarind Wings in a jerk marinade and Pepper Prawns sauteed in red coconut curry. The Oxtail Bao, braised with soy sauce and hoisin, and Spiced Lamb Chops with West African Suya spice are standout starters. Main dishes include Braised Lamb Shank, Scotch Bonnet Fried Chicken, and Pan-seared Chilean Salmon with callaloo gnocchi. The cocktail menu offers exotic drinks like the Cinn-City and the signature Continent Punch.
“We’re excited to expand our culinary offerings with Hotel Indigo Williamsburg,” said Aliya Huey. “This restaurant is a testament to the strength, beauty, and unity of our Brooklyn family, bringing a touch of the islands to our beloved city.”
Continent Brooklyn also features wines from the Black women-owned brand iBest, and globally-sourced wines from Locations and Orin Swift. The restaurant promises to be a vibrant addition to Williamsburg’s dining scene, offering a unique culinary experience that celebrates global flavors and local culture.
