Deutsche Hospitality expands its international portfolio with a new addition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The new hotel; The IntercityHotel Riyadh Malaz will be welcoming guests in the Kingdom’s capital city from 20 December 2018. This means that the brand’s portfolio currently includes ten countries.
“The IntercityHotel Riyadh Malaz will allow us to strengthen our international presence and pursue strategic growth,” said Thomas Willms, CEO, Deutsche Hospitality. “Saudi Arabia and Riyadh in particular are seeing a constantly increasing demand for hotel capacities. This latest new opening is taking place at the right time and in the right place.”
The IntercityHotel Riyadh Malaz is a new build which offers 82 rooms and four suites as well as boasting a lounge and a café. The main restaurant is situated on the roof, from where impressive views out over the old quarter of Riyadh can be enjoyed. A roof top swimming pool with an adjoining bar is a further highlight. Gym facilities are being planned to meet the needs of exercise enthusiasts. Like in all properties forming part of the new IntercityHotel generation, the Italian architect Matteo Thun has been the creative force behind the interior design concept.
The hotel’s location in the well known commercial quarter of Al Malaz makes it attractive to leisure and business travellers alike. The Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, Riyadh Zoo and the King Abdullah Park are all to be found within the immediate vicinity. Riyadh is the capital city and administrative centre of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The increase in business and economic activity that has taken place has turned the metropolis into a major commercial hub. It is also home to a host of educational, financial, agricultural and cultural organisations and social institutions.
The Middle East is one of the main focuses of Deutsche Hospitality’s expansion activities. The group is already represented on the Arabian Peninsula in the shape of the Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay in Dubai and the IntercityHotel Salalah in Oman. The opening of the IntercityHotel Riyadh Malaz in Saudi Arabia increases the brand’s presence in the region to three countries.
And growth is set to continue apace. Two further hotels are currently at the development stage in Oman. These are the IntercityHotel Nizwa (scheduled to open in November 2019) and the IntercityHotel Muscat (to launch in the 1st quarter of 2020). The IntercityHotel Jaddaf Waterfront is also under construction in Dubai, and the plan is that this will be ready to receive its first guests before the end of the first quarter of 2019.
