RIU Hotels & Resorts Marks UK Debut with the Opulent Riu Plaza London Victoria

RIU Hotels & Resorts, renowned for its chain of luxurious city hotels, is set to open its first establishment in the United Kingdom – the Riu Plaza London Victoria, this Friday, 28th July.

The four-star hotel, boasting 435 rooms, is situated in the heart of London’s political epicentre, Westminster, neighboured by iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace and Big Ben.

The Riu Plaza hotels have always been famed for their prime locations in the bustling centres of major cities around the globe, and London, being Europe’s most visited city, is a hotbed for both leisure and corporate travellers. The Riu Plaza London Victoria is strategically positioned mere metres from Victoria Station, one of the busiest transport hubs in the country, attracting approximately 75 million passengers annually. Further enhancing its appeal, the hotel is conveniently just 30 minutes from Gatwick Airport via the Gatwick Express service.

The contemporary minimalist design of the Riu Plaza London Victoria is divided into two parts: the podium and the tower. Notably, the circular glass tower housing the reception, or the “drum” as referred to by the project’s creators, stands out as a distinct feature of the podium, exuding a warm welcome to all guests.

Upon entering, guests will be awed by a naturally illuminated lobby under a conical dome with a captivating hanging sculpture, introducing them to an environment that harmoniously blends elegance and warmth. The design also meticulously considers privacy, with the furniture strategically placed to create small private areas within the communal space.

As for accommodations, the rooms showcase a modern, comfortable aesthetic, complete with contemporary wallpaper and watercolour paintings, lending an artistic touch. The superior suites and rooms offer stunning views of the city, with the most spacious rooms being located on floor -1, a common feature in UK hotels to maximise space.

Guests can enjoy an inclusive full buffet breakfast and à la carte dinners at the hotel restaurant, unwind at the lively lobby bar, and stay fit at the 24-hour fitness centre.

The Riu Plaza London Victoria, originally built in the 1960s and revamped in the 1990s, is the tenth addition to the Riu Plaza city line, joining esteemed hotels in locations like Panama, Mexico, Spain, and the United States. Chicago and Toronto are set to be the next destinations to welcome RIU’s city hotels.
