Six Senses Kyoto, a fusion of untouched landscapes, heartfelt hospitality, and a blend of ancient culture with modern sophistication, is set to redefine luxury wellness experiences in Japan.

The hotel marks Six Senses’ much-anticipated debut in Japan and is situated in the culturally rich heart of Kyoto.

Nicolas Black, the General Manager of Six Senses Kyoto, expressed his excitement about the opening, stating, “Kyoto, with its deep-rooted sustainability traditions and wellness culture, is the perfect setting for our first venture in Japan.”

Kyoto, historically Japan’s capital, is renowned for its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, and traditional Japanese architecture. Six Senses Kyoto is nestled in the historic Higashiyama district, surrounded by centuries-old cedar trees and renowned cultural sites like Myoho-in Temple and the Kyoto National Museum.

The hotel boasts 81 elegantly designed rooms and suites, offering guests serene views of the city, neighboring shrines, or the hotel’s tranquil courtyard. The interior design, inspired by traditional Japanese folklore and the 11th-century Tale of Genji, includes the luxurious Three-Bedroom Penthouse Suite, an ideal retreat for families or guests hosting private gatherings.

BLINK Design Group, known for crafting luxury hotels globally, has seamlessly integrated Six Senses’ values into the hotel’s design, blending Japanese tradition with modern aesthetics. The color palette and attention to detail in the interior design create a harmonious balance of luxury and authenticity.

Six Senses Kyoto is more than just a hotel; it’s an immersive journey into Japanese culture and wellness. Guests can explore the Earth Lab, the Alchemy Bar, and a local herb garden. The Six Senses Spa offers unique treatments and wellness programs, combining advanced science with traditional Japanese Zen practices.

Traditional bathhouses, an indoor pool, and various wellness facilities like yoga, meditation, and a state-of-the-art gym further enhance the guest experience. Expert guides are available to lead guests through Kyoto’s hidden alleys, ancient temples, and vibrant markets, offering a deep dive into the city’s rich history and culture.

The dining experience at Six Senses Kyoto aligns with the Eat With Six Senses ethos, focusing on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The hotel offers diverse culinary experiences, from relaxed all-day dining to counter-style sushi restaurants, alongside a cocktail lounge and bar blending European and Japanese influences.

Located conveniently near major international airports, Six Senses Kyoto is easily accessible, being just a 90-minute drive or a 70-minute train ride from Kansai International Airport. The hotel is also a short drive from Kyoto Shinkansen Station, with private transfers available upon request.

The launch of Six Senses Kyoto is a significant addition to IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio. Guests will enjoy the benefits of the IHG One Rewards program, enhanced by the latest technology through the new mobile app. Reservations are now open for stays starting April 23, 2024.
