World of Hyatt expands award chart but keeps fixed point pricing

World of Hyatt announces an expansion of its published award chart, adding two new redemption levels while keeping fixed point pricing for free nights.

The changes begin in May 2026 and are designed to give members more flexibility while preserving transparency and predictable award costs. The loyalty program also introduces digital points sharing and early access to award night availability for eligible members later this year. See the new award chart.

The update expands each of the program’s existing eight hotel categories from three to five redemption levels, labeled Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper and Top. Hyatt says it will implement the changes gradually in 2026, with limited hotels moving a limited number of nights into the Upper and Top levels before broader adoption in future years. Annual category changes will continue to be announced in April, and current bookings made before adjustments take effect will be honored.

Hyatt states that its published award chart remains a core differentiator in the loyalty space. Unlike programs that have shifted to dynamic pricing, World of Hyatt will continue operating with fixed point thresholds for award nights at Hyatt hotels and resorts. The company says the expanded five-level structure allows more precise alignment within clearly defined category caps, reducing the need for broad category increases over time.

“Our members tell us they value transparency and the ability to plan with confidence,” said Laurie Blair, senior vice president, global marketing and loyalty, Hyatt. “We know change can be difficult, especially in a loyalty program our members care deeply about. This update reinforces our commitment to a published award chart with fixed point thresholds while ensuring World of Hyatt remains strong, sustainable and rewarding for years to come.”

Under the revised framework, Hyatt says it can better manage peak demand by adjusting individual nights within categories rather than moving entire hotels up sharply. The company notes that it has not made a meaningful structural update to the award chart in five years, describing the latest changes as an evolution intended to protect long-term program stability rather than a fundamental shift.

Digital points sharing and early award access

Later in 2026, members will be able to share points digitally, allowing them to transfer points more easily to family or friends. Hyatt says the feature is designed to help members combine balances for a shared trip or special occasion without manual processes.

In addition, Explorists, Globalists, Lifetime Globalists and World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will receive early access to award night availability. Hyatt says this early award access provides more opportunity to plan ahead and secure high-demand dates before broader release. Further operational details are expected later this year.

The company will continue its annual hotel category review process. In the upcoming adjustment cycle, five hotels shift up one category: Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, Hyatt Centric Malta, Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort, Hyatt Place San Antonio-Northwest/Medical Center and Grand Hyatt Incheon. One hotel, Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Resort & Spa, which is set to open in 2026, will shift up two categories. The Barnett, part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, will move down one category effective immediately.

Hyatt says World of Hyatt has expanded significantly since the award chart was last updated in 2021. Members now have access to additional lifestyle and luxury brands, including The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels. The portfolio also includes all-inclusive options such as Impression by Secrets, Zoëtry Wellness and Spa Resorts and Dreams Resorts and Spa, as well as outdoor-focused stays through Under Canvas.

The company positions World of Hyatt points as a tool for both planned and spontaneous travel, from family holidays to milestone experiences. By maintaining fixed point pricing and expanding redemption levels within defined caps, Hyatt says it aims to balance member value with long-term sustainability.

Hyatt maintains that advance notice of category adjustments allows members to book at current levels before changes take effect, with existing reservations honored as booked. The expanded award chart structure is intended to provide predictability while giving the program flexibility to respond to seasonal demand patterns.

With digital points sharing, early award access and a five-level redemption system, World of Hyatt is evolving its loyalty model while keeping its published award chart intact. Hyatt says the goal is to reinforce transparency and protect member trust as the brand portfolio continues to grow globally.
