The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) welcomes Peter Lobasso as ASTA’s General Counsel. Lobasso brings to ASTA over 15 years of experience in corporate law and a wealth of knowledge in areas such as contracts, employment and labor law, and intellectual property.
Barred in New York, Virginia, and Washington, DC, Lobasso joins ASTA from Berenson LLP, a specialty law firm in Great Falls Virginia, where he was the Managing Attorney and Counsel to major corporations nationwide. In addition to representing multinational companies, Lobasso successfully represented clients in major arbitration proceedings and mediations, obtained over 75 Federal trademark registrations, protected the rights of small business clients, and negotiated multi-million dollar transactions in numerous states. His extensive experience in regulatory compliance and complex litigation will also be of great value to ASTA and its members.
At ASTA, Lobasso will be responsible for supporting the Senior Vice President, Government & Industry Affairs (Eben Peck) and Vice President, Industry Affairs (Mark Meader) in the development and execution of ASTA’s wide-ranging industry and government affairs agenda. Lobasso will also serve as policy advisor to Zane Kerby, ASTA’s President and CEO on a full range of legal matters affecting the association and the industry, including corporate strategy. He’ll also work closely with Jennifer Michels, Vice President, Communications, and serve as a spokesperson to media on industry issues.
“I’d like to join our staff and fellow industry partners in welcoming Peter Lobasso to the ASTA family,” said President and CEO Zane Kerby. “I am confident that ASTA and its members will be in good hands. We have a very strong team in place and through our work together, the future of ASTA is brighter than ever.”
