AirAsia Resumes Flights from Malaysia to Thailand

AirAsia is ready to add more international flights from Malaysia to Thailand with 3 new routes, Penang – Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur – Hat Yai starting from 13 April 2022, and Johor Bahru – Bangkok starting from 3 May 2022.

Additionally, AirAsia will also be increasing its flight frequency to Bangkok starting from 12 April 2022, on top of existing Kuala Lumpur – Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur – Phuket flights operated by AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK), to provide passengers with more options to travel to Thailand.

Fly with ease as quarantine requirements are lifted and enjoy promotional fares starting from only RM169 per trip.  Booking is available on the airasia Super App from 15 – 30 March 2022 for travel from 21 March 2022 – 25 March 2023 and receive the privilege of unlimited flight change**.

AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya said, “AirAsia’s resumption of international flights has been much awaited by both the airline and our guests. With Thailand reopening and travel restrictions being lifted, AirAsia will continue to  re-introduce international service, starting from April 2022. In this regard, Malaysia and Thailand are countries with potential in terms of tourism and economy, which we believe that our flight resumption will bring opportunity and support to both countries’ economic recovery.

“We chose to resume routes to countries that share Thailand’s reopening policy so that our passengers can travel without having to be concerned over quarantining. The routes cover ASEAN and Southern Asia and we are working closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and relevant agencies to attract visitors to Thailand while maintaining the utmost screening and public health measures. With foreign travelers able to connect throughout the AirAsia domestic network, we will be helping to disperse revenue to all of both nations’ regions”

“Thailand is probably one of the most popular destinations for Malaysians. In the past, we have brought Malaysians to travel and explore new experiences. With this flight resumption, we hope to receive a warm welcome from Malaysian guests. Starting with the opening of routes that have already flown, namely Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor Bahru, which in the future, will be more expanded to facilitate the Malaysian guests.” Mr. Santisuk said.

In this regard, guests traveling from Thailand to various countries with flights operated by AirAsia will be able to travel without quarantine according to the travel requirements of each country, while those arriving to Thailand will be able to bypass quarantine with the Test&Go Scheme by registering for an electronic entry certificate, Thailand Pass, in advance.

AirAsia remains committed to providing service under stringent health and safety measures. The airline has received a significant recognition for its robust and comprehensive Covid-19 mitigation plans, with the highest levels of safety and operational integrity with a 7/7 rating from the aviation experts at earlier in February and was recently recognised as the only Thai airline among the Top 3 “Most On-Time Low Cost Carriers” as ranked by leading aviation and travel data analytics firm Cirium for 2021 with an on-time performance average of 97.47%.
