American Airlines Adds 4 New Europe Flights for Summer 2026

American Airlines has launched four new nonstop routes between the United States and Europe as part of its largest summer schedule to date, adding flights to Budapest, Prague, Athens and Zurich.

The airline began the new services on the first day of its summer 2026 season, introducing daily seasonal flights from Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague, alongside new flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich. American said the expansion strengthens its European network to as many as 70 daily flights between the U.S. and Europe this summer.

The new Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague routes mark the first time the two cities have joined American’s global network. The airline operates both routes using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich operate with a mix of Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

American said the launch coincides with a record-breaking summer travel season, with the carrier expecting to serve 75 million passengers across 750,000 flights during its centennial summer.

The airline has also expanded its transatlantic network from other hubs this year, including new nonstop services from Miami to Milan and from New York JFK to Edinburgh.

Philadelphia is playing a growing role in American’s international strategy this summer. The airline recently introduced a redesigned seven-bank schedule at Philadelphia International Airport aimed at improving passenger flow, customer connections and baggage handling.

Under the updated system, arrivals and departures are spread more evenly throughout the day to reduce congestion at parking areas, check-in counters, security checkpoints and terminals.

“Bolstered by our redesigned schedule and powered by the dedication of our team, we’re ready to care for customers during a record summer at PHL — especially as the city hosts several major global events this year,” said Cesar Marchese, American’s Vice President of PHL Operations.

“We’re proud to serve as a key gateway and connection point to Europe, now with two new iconic destinations that strengthen our robust international network,” he added.

Dallas-Fort Worth, American’s largest hub, has also introduced a redesigned operating schedule with 13 coordinated daily connection banks across more than 930 peak departures.

The airline said the updated DFW schedule has already helped reduce delays, improve customer connections, lower the number of gate changes and strengthen baggage handling performance.

“New service to Athens and Zurich is a great example of how American continues to invest in its largest hub with even more opportunities to connect to destinations around the world,” said Jim Moses, American’s Senior Vice President of DFW Operations.

“We’re also investing in the travel journey with our new 13-bank schedule that sets up our team for success and delivers for our customers — not just at DFW but across our entire airline due to the outsized impact DFW has on our global operation,” he said.

American is also promoting several customer-focused upgrades for the summer season, including enhancements to its mobile app, expanded TSA PreCheck Touchless ID access and upgraded airport lounge facilities.

Passengers connecting through Philadelphia can access the airline’s Flagship and Admirals Club lounges in Terminal A-West, while travelers passing through Dallas-Fort Worth can use lounge facilities across all five terminals, including the Flagship lounge in Terminal D.

The airline also said nearly all domestic flights now offer free Wi-Fi for AAdvantage members through sponsorship from AT&T.
