American, Alaska, and Hawaiian Airlines Now Together at JFK Terminal 8

JFK Terminal 8 is now home to a powerhouse trio of American, Alaska, and Hawaiian Airlines, as the two West Coast carriers officially co-locate with American Airlines at New York’s flagship international airport. This strategic move enhances connectivity and simplifies the travel experience for millions of passengers, particularly those flying with oneworld® alliance members.

The transition began with Hawaiian Airlines launching its daily service from JFK to Honolulu (HNL) out of Terminal 8 in April 2025. Alaska Airlines is set to complete its move by October, bringing its full operations—gates, ticketing, and guest services—into the fold. Once finalized, Terminal 8 will host 10 oneworld® carriers, positioning it as one of the most alliance-integrated terminals in the United States.

Seamless Travel, Smarter Connections

For travelers, this consolidation means smoother transits, faster connections, and greater access to premium services. By aligning Alaska and Hawaiian’s operations with American Airlines under one roof, passengers can move more efficiently between domestic and international flights without switching terminals or re-clearing security. This is especially valuable at one of the busiest airports in the world.

Amanda Zhang, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate at American Airlines, said, “We are thrilled to welcome our West Coast International Alliance and oneworld® partner, Alaska Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines to Terminal 8. We continue to invest in JFK to enhance the travel experience for our customers and those of our partners.”

Upgrades in the Works

As part of the co-location initiative, Terminal 8 is undergoing a $125 million commercial redevelopment led by American Airlines, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports. Travelers can look forward to more than 60 new shops and restaurants, updated passenger lounges, and modernized gate areas—ensuring the terminal keeps pace with the needs of global flyers.

Shane Jones, Senior Vice President of Fleet, Revenue Products and Real Estate at Alaska Airlines, commented, “Terminal 8 is home to American Airlines — our long-standing oneworld® partner — and this move demonstrates our shared commitment to delivering seamless connectivity for our guests. After two years of thoughtful evaluation, we’re excited to be closer to American and other global partners to better serve guests.”

Lounge Access and Premium Perks

In addition to easier connections, premium flyers on Alaska and Hawaiian will now gain access to American Airlines’ exclusive lounges at JFK. First Class passengers flying routes over 2,000 miles can relax in the Admirals Club, while those in lie-flat premium cabins will have access to the elevated Greenwich Lounge, known for its curated wine selection, refined dining, and sophisticated ambiance.

This added comfort aligns with a broader goal: to create a unified, world-class travel experience for customers of all oneworld® carriers at JFK, with consistent service standards and a shared focus on convenience and hospitality.

A Terminal Transformed for the Global Flyer

With three major U.S. carriers now united at JFK Terminal 8, the airport’s role as a hub for international and transcontinental travel is stronger than ever. The move isn’t just about geography—it’s about creating smarter, more integrated air travel for a new era of passengers who expect speed, service, and simplicity. For business travelers, leisure flyers, and loyal alliance members, Terminal 8 is quickly becoming the go-to gateway for destinations across the U.S., Pacific, and beyond.
