Breeze Airways Expands Network to Springfield, IL, Offering Affordable Flights to Florida

Breeze Airways, the United States’ singular ‘Nice Low Cost Carrier’ (NLCC), has announced the addition of Springfield, IL to its rapidly expanding national network.

Starting December 1 and 4, Breeze will introduce twice-weekly services to Orlando and Tampa, respectively, with an enticing introductory fare of just $49 one-way.

The Orlando route will operate on Mondays and Fridays, transitioning to Wednesdays and Saturdays from January 10. The Tampa route will maintain its Monday and Friday schedule. The promotional fare is available for bookings made through September 25, applicable for travel until April 30, 2024.

Frank J. Vala, Chair of the Springfield Airport Authority Board of Commissioners, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are extremely excited to be the first airport in Illinois to welcome Breeze Airways with non-stop service from Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport to Orlando International and Tampa International Airports.” He thanked Breeze for providing the community with convenient and direct access to popular Florida destinations and expressed optimism for the success of these new routes.

The Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance (SSGA) is also collaborating with Breeze Airways and the Springfield Airport Authority to bring this exceptional service to the community. Ed Curtis, SSGA Board Chairman, emphasized the importance of robust passenger air service in enhancing the quality of life for the citizens and contributing to the economic growth of the community.

Tom Doxey, Breeze Airways’ President, highlighted that Springfield is the first airport they are serving in Illinois. He said, “Breeze is all about adding service to underserved markets and city pairs, and we can’t wait to give the community of Springfield some new destinations with Breeze’s added convenience, affordability, and flexibility.”

The new routes will feature Breeze’s brand new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, offering three unique seating options, including the luxurious Breeze Ascent with generous recliner-style seats and complimentary snacks and drinks. The aircraft operates at lower noise levels, ensuring a quiet and comfortable cabin experience, and is powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1500G geared turbofan engines.

Breeze Airways stands out for its customer-friendly policies, including no charge for changes or cancellations up to 15 minutes prior to departure, free family seating, and a la carte pricing. With its user-friendly app and seamless booking process, Breeze Airways promises an easy and pleasant travel experience.
