AEGEAN CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis and Emirates CCO Adnan Kazim

Emirates and AEGEAN Codeshare Now Includes Athens-Newark

Celebrating a successful year of collaboration, Emirates and AEGEAN announced the expansion of their codeshare agreement to include the Athens-New York (Newark) route.

This development comes as the partnership marks its first anniversary—a period during which it has served more than 16,800 passengers.

Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, expressed delight over the expanded alliance. “We’re pleased to include our direct service between Athens and Newark as part of our flourishing partnership with AEGEAN,” Kazim said. “We currently have 29 codeshare and 117 interline partners in over 100 countries. This move further enriches our offering, providing seamless connectivity to over 5,250 destinations beyond our network.”

A Win-Win for Both Airlines and Passengers

Dimitris Gerogiannis, AEGEAN’s CEO, also welcomed the expansion. “This pivotal step brings Athens and New York closer for all AEGEAN passengers, while at the same time making travel to popular Greek and European destinations easier for those who choose Emirates as their gateway to Greece,” he stated.

The initial codeshare agreement, launched in August 2022, allowed travelers to book flights from Emirates’ network to eight domestic Greek locations via Athens, using a single ticket and one baggage policy. AEGEAN also placed its code on Emirates-operated flights between Dubai and Athens, thereby enhancing travel connectivity between both hubs.

With the new expansion, Emirates passengers can enjoy a stopover in Athens before connecting to AEGEAN’s network of popular Greek and European destinations. Similarly, AEGEAN travelers will have increased access to Emirates’ flights between Athens and Dubai, as well as the newly added Athens-Newark route.

The combined network of both airlines now reaches 200 destinations globally. Flights can be booked through emirates.com and aegeanair.com, as well as via online and offline travel agents.
