Oman Air launches direct services to Singapore and Tashkent

Oman Air has launched direct flights between Muscat and Singapore on 2 July 2026. The new service marks the airline’s latest link to Southeast Asia, increasing accessibility between the two regions. The inaugural flight was welcomed by a vibrant lion dance and representatives from the airline as well as Singapore Changi Airport.

The eight-hour flight will be one of the world’s longest on a Boeing 737 MAX narrow-body. Guests will now be able to fly direct from Muscat to Singapore four days a week – Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

“Singapore is one of the major global hubs… and Singaporeans are among the most avid travellers in the world,” said Oman Air’s chief executive Con Korfiatis in an interview. “Oman has moved from being a transit point… to now also being a tourist destination, and that has created a different market opportunity.”

Korfiatis said in the same interview that the airline was targeting load factors, or the percentage of seats filled, in the mid-to-high 70% range in year one for the Singapore route, and first-month bookings were tracking above that level.

The airline is also eyeing a return to North Asia for the first time in years, with Korfiatis expecting to announce at least one new nonstop destination in the region within 12 months.

Oman’s airspace remained open throughout recent Middle East disruptions, giving the airline a brief advantage as passengers rerouted during the early weeks of the Iran war, Korfiatis said. Load factors had still dipped by around 8 to 10 percentage points at the height of the disruption but had since mostly recovered, he added

With Oman Air joining the oneworld alliance one year ago, the new route also taps into key traffic flows via member airlines including those from Australia, Japan and Hong Kong, offering guests smooth connections and seamless frequent flyer benefits such as lounge access, mileage accrual and redemption, and more.

Services to Tashkent launched

Oman Air also launched direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent on 4 July. The new four-hour service will operate twice weekly, offering guests convenient access between the two capitals and strengthening connectivity between Oman and Central Asia.

The new route is also expected to support inbound tourism to Oman while strengthening bilateral business and cultural ties between the two countries. Positioned along the historic Silk Road, Oman and Uzbekistan share rich heritage and cultural depth, offering travellers the opportunity to explore two culturally distinctive yet historically connected destinations.

As part of its ongoing transformation, Oman Air is focused on sustainable network growth with new destinations that serve strong point-to-point markets, meeting its guests’ evolving needs while supporting Oman’s socio-economic development.
