Redeem Miles for Wi-Fi on American Airlines Flights

American Airlines is elevating the inflight experience by making its high-speed Wi-Fi more user-friendly and adding new ways for AAdvantage® members to use their miles. Now, passengers can not only connect to work or browse online with ease but also look forward to an enhanced entertainment offering while onboard.

AAdvantage® members will soon enjoy the perk of redeeming miles for Wi-Fi access onboard, with American rolling out this feature on select aircraft in the coming weeks. By the summer, passengers flying on Viasat-equipped narrowbody aircraft will have the opportunity to use miles for Wi-Fi, making loyalty rewards more versatile and travel more enjoyable.

American is extending Wi-Fi connectivity from gate to gate on most mainline aircraft, allowing passengers to stay online from the moment they board until they disembark. Additionally, passengers on all domestic narrowbody aircraft equipped with Viasat can access free Wi-Fi through ad-sponsored options, ensuring connectivity for everyone.

Enhancements include a redesigned Wi-Fi portal that simplifies the Wi-Fi purchase process and improves customer communication onboard. This new portal design, rolling out throughout the year, will offer a more accessible and aesthetically pleasing user experience, consolidating Wi-Fi, entertainment, and partner offers in one place.

Regional flyers aren’t left out, as American and Intelsat will start equipping nearly 500 dual-class regional aircraft with high-speed Wi-Fi this summer, aiming for a seamless and connected inflight experience across the fleet.

American is also the first airline to enable streaming on its entire mainline fleet, with passengers able to watch their favorite content directly from streaming platforms. The airline regularly updates its library of 1,500 free inflight entertainment options, including movies, TV shows, music, and wellness content, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for all passengers.

Special entertainment features include a curated selection of award-nominated films, a Women’s Stories channel celebrating female creatives, and a horror-focused Paramount Scares channel. For families, new partnerships provide baby sensory videos and wellness content for a more relaxed journey. Music enthusiasts can delve into exclusive interviews with artists through the Center Stage program.

American continues to enhance the customer experience with unique partner offers, including a special Apple TV+ subscription deal, allowing passengers to continue enjoying Apple Originals after their flight.
