Singapore Airlines has released a new in-flight safety video that combines mandatory safety instructions with a visual journey across iconic locations in Singapore. Produced in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board, the video debuts on 4 September 2025 and will be progressively screened on all SIA flights from the end of October.
The six-minute video features Singapore Airlines cabin crew demonstrating safety procedures at well-known sites such as Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, Lau Pa Sat, and the Esplanade. The creative concept blends real-life footage with watercolour-inspired animation, aiming to showcase the nation’s cultural richness while delivering essential safety messages.
Strategic Collaboration Highlights Local Culture
The collaboration seeks to strengthen Singapore’s brand as both a cultural hub and a travel destination. SIA’s cabin crew interact with local communities including a lion dance troupe, Kolam artists, Silat practitioners, and aqua aerobics teams, who assist in conveying safety instructions throughout the video.
Vinod Kannan, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing at Singapore Airlines, said: “This video creatively presents vital safety information while showcasing Singapore’s vibrant and diverse cultures, sights, and communities. Safety remains our absolute priority, which is why each scene was carefully designed to reinforce these essential safety messages.”
The video’s artistic approach is inspired by Singapore’s public murals and urban art, linking visual storytelling with heritage promotion. Key safety procedures such as seatbelt fastening, oxygen mask usage, emergency exits, and life vest deployment are seamlessly incorporated into everyday activities filmed across the island.
Iconic Locations and Cultural Highlights
The video opens with panoramic views of Gardens by the Bay and transitions through various settings. In Jurong Lake Gardens, lion dancers demonstrate cabin preparation procedures. Kolam artists in a residential precinct illustrate aircraft emergency exits using coloured rice flour designs featuring the SIA batik motif.
Other segments include safety raft demonstrations by hotel guests at Sentosa and life vest usage explained by aqua aerobics teams. In a local flat, a family gathered for a durian feast shows the oxygen mask protocol. At Lau Pa Sat food market, diners demonstrate device safety rules and highlight e-cigarette restrictions using visual metaphors like satay smoke.
Tourism Board Support and Global Exposure
Kenneth Lim, Assistant Chief Executive of the Marketing Group at the Singapore Tourism Board, said: “This strategic partnership allows us to showcase Singapore’s distinct character to millions of travellers worldwide, while reinforcing our position as a preferred destination for both business and leisure.”
The final scene shows SIA cabin crew atop the Esplanade rooftop, thanking passengers for their attention and directing them to safety cards. A wide aerial shot of Singapore’s night skyline concludes the video, reinforcing both national pride and international appeal.
In addition to in-flight screening, the video is available on Singapore Airlines’ official Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube platforms. The initiative is part of SIA’s continued efforts to innovate its passenger experience and promote Singapore as a destination of choice.
