Turkish Airline AJet starts direct flights from Istanbul to Bishkek, expanding its international network with a convenient new route connecting Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan.
The low-cost carrier, which operates under the umbrella of Turkish Airlines, will now fly four times a week between Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport and Manas International Airport in Bishkek.
The new route officially launched on Monday, marking a significant addition to AJet’s expanding presence in Central Asia. The four weekly flights will operate on a reciprocal basis, offering travelers more flexibility and budget-friendly options between the two capitals. The schedule is designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers seeking efficient travel across the region.
Before the inaugural flight took off from Istanbul, a special ceremony was held at Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Among those attending were Kerem Sarp, General Manager of AJet, and senior executives from both the airline and the airport. The event celebrated the growing importance of regional air travel and the strategic role of AJet in connecting Türkiye with its Central Asian neighbors.
Passengers on the first flight to Bishkek were treated to refreshments onboard as part of the celebratory launch. After a smooth five-hour journey, the aircraft was welcomed with another ceremony at Manas International Airport, highlighting the significance of the new route to the local travel and tourism community in Kyrgyzstan.
AJet’s move aligns with a broader trend of increasing connectivity between Türkiye and Central Asia, driven by rising demand for accessible, affordable air travel. As a low-cost carrier backed by the global reach of Turkish Airlines, AJet continues to focus on opening routes that support regional tourism, economic partnerships, and cultural exchange.
With Sabiha Gokcen Airport serving as a growing hub on the Asian side of Istanbul, the new Bishkek flights further strengthen the airport’s international profile. Travelers departing from or arriving in Türkiye’s largest city now have a direct, cost-effective way to explore Kyrgyzstan, whether for business, family visits, or adventure travel in the mountainous heart of Central Asia.
The launch of these flights is also expected to benefit the Kyrgyz diaspora living in Türkiye, providing a convenient connection to their homeland. At the same time, Kyrgyz travelers now have easier access to Istanbul, a major destination for shopping, tourism, and transit to other global cities via Turkish Airlines’ vast network.
This new service from AJet reflects the airline’s strategy of building out regional routes that complement Turkish Airlines’ long-haul operations. With an emphasis on comfort, affordability, and frequent schedules, AJet is positioning itself as a key player in short- and mid-range routes across Eurasia.
As regional air travel continues to rebound, the introduction of direct flights between Istanbul and Bishkek signals confidence in renewed demand and long-term interest in strengthening the ties between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan. For travelers seeking new connections or easier access to Central Asia, AJet’s latest route offers an appealing option to fly smarter and explore more.
