United Airlines is set to expand its Asia Pacific services, announcing a resumption of its daily flights between San Francisco and Beijing starting this November. In addition, there will be a daily flight increment to Shanghai from San Francisco, beginning on October 1, 2023.
This decision follows an agreement between the U.S. and Chinese governments to bolster the number of flights between the two nations.
Patrick Quayle, the Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances at United, expressed gratitude for the progression in U.S. – China air services. He acknowledged the combined efforts of officials from both countries, saying, “We are grateful for this positive step forward in U.S. – China passenger air services, and we thank the many officials from both countries who partnered to make this reinstatement of air service possible.”
Quayle added that these additional flights align with the current demand they observe, especially considering the challenges they face in directly connecting China from their mid-continent or East Coast hubs due to overflight restrictions imposed by Russia.
For customers eager to secure their spot, Shanghai flights are already available for booking through United.com and the United app. The Beijing flight schedule is anticipated to be updated within the next week.
