The Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) announced strong growth in February 2019 traffic results.
In February 2019, the total number of passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group rose by 20.9% to 2.3 million travellers.
The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the month of February 2019 rose by 25.6% compared to the prior-year month to 1,863,688 travellers. The number of local passengers increased sharply by 30.6%, and transfer passenger volume was up by 8.6%. The number of flight movements in February 2019 also showed a substantial increase of 16.0% year-on-year. Cargo volume at Vienna Airport dropped slightly by 1.7% from the comparable level of February 2018.
The total number of passengers at Vienna Airport flying to destinations in Western Europe climbed by 23.8% in February 2019, and passenger traffic to Eastern Europe showed a considerable increase of 36.8%. In February 2019, the number of passengers travelling to the Far East increased by 14.9% from the prior-year month, and passenger volume to Middle Eastern destinations climbed by 27.2%. Passenger volume to North America also developed positively, rising by 36.9% in February 2019, and the number of passengers travelling to Africa was up 35.9% year-on-year.
Malta Airport reported an increase in passenger volume of 2.9% in the month of February 2019, whereas Kosice Airport registered a decline of 4.3% in the number of passengers it handled.
