Holland America Line has named Zuiderdam as the next ship to join its Holland America Evolution program, bringing Pinnacle Class style accommodations to the vessel as part of the line’s largest fleet update in its 153 year history. The company also released renderings of new Pinnacle and Bridgeview Suites for the first time.
Zuiderdam is the second of six ships confirmed for the Evolution program, following Oosterdam. The refit will add a reimagined Pinnacle Suite, two new Bridgeview Suites, 14 Vista Suites and 32 Solo Verandah staterooms, along with refreshed accommodations throughout the ship and a new Grand Dutch Café. Voyages aboard the upgraded Zuiderdam open for booking on July 30.
The Bridgeview Suites will sit above the ship’s bridge, offering forward facing views through wraparound windows, along with a private balcony and separate living and sleeping areas. The Solo Verandahs are designed specifically for solo travellers, each with its own private balcony and a living space built for one guest.
Vista Suites, a category already popular on Pinnacle Class ships, bring a sitting area, oversized windows and a private verandah to Zuiderdam. The reimagined Pinnacle Suite will be the most expansive accommodation on board, with expanded living space, refined finishes and panoramic ocean views.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, said the strong response to similar accommodations on Oosterdam shaped the decision to bring them to Zuiderdam. “We’ve seen strong interest in our Bridgeview Suites and Solo Verandahs on Oosterdam, and we’re excited to make these new accommodations available on Zuiderdam,” she said. “We’re building on that momentum and look forward to sharing more details, including itineraries, very soon.”
The Grand Dutch Café will also come to Zuiderdam as part of the refit, expanding a venue already found on other Pinnacle Class ships across the fleet. The concept draws on Holland America Line’s Dutch heritage and the relaxed rhythm of cafés in Amsterdam and northern Europe, functioning as an all day gathering spot for guests.
Guests will be able to stop by for an espresso in the morning, a beer or aperitif in the afternoon, or a light bite in the evening. The venue is designed with comfortable seating and an approachable menu, reflecting the line’s unhurried approach to travel. The Grand Dutch Café on Zuiderdam will be the largest version of the venue introduced so far under the Evolution program.
Oosterdam remains the first ship to complete its Evolution transformation, marking the opening phase of the wider fleet program. Bookings are already open for Oosterdam’s first voyages following its refurbishment, giving guests an early chance to experience its updated staterooms and expanded venues.
Holland America Evolution is designed to modernise accommodations and public spaces across the fleet while retaining the line’s core identity. Further details on the program, including future ship reveals and itineraries, are expected in the coming months.
