Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), renowned as an innovator in global cruise travel, has announced a major enhancement plan for its ship, Norwegian Joy. Starting in January 2024, the ship will receive several new features including a Thermal Suite in the Mandara Spa and Salon, an expanded Vibe Beach Club, 24 new staterooms, redesigned Three-Bedroom The Haven Premier Owner’s Suites and much more.
Scheduled for a three-week dry dock from January 22 to February 12, 2024, Norwegian Joy is poised to deliver an even better onboard guest experience. The new Thermal Suite in the Mandara Spa, touted to be the largest among the Breakaway-Plus class ships, will become the centerpiece of the enhancement. The Thermal Suite has been redesigned based on feedback from NCL guests and will feature a more centralized layout, an eye-catching entrance with elegant sculptures and waterfalls, and a separate lounge area with hot tile loungers. The spa will also offer relaxing experiences such as a sauna, ice room, and aromatic steam room. The new suite will replace the Galaxy Pavilion, the ship’s virtual-reality complex.

The redesign will repurpose a portion of the Observation Lounge to create 24 new balcony staterooms and recategorize 40 new spa balcony staterooms, offering direct access to the Mandara Spa and the Thermal Suite. In response to high demand, Norwegian Joy’s The Haven by Norwegian® Premier Owner’s Suites with a Large Balcony will be expanded to three-bedrooms.
The exclusive, adults-only Vibe Beach Club will also be expanded, taking over the existing Laser Tag arena on Deck 20. The new space will boast a similar layout to the Vibe Beach Clubs found on Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Bliss, complete with new private luxe cabanas.
Post enhancements, Norwegian Joy will resume sailings on February 13, 2024, with an 11-Day Transatlantic voyage from Southampton, United Kingdom to Miami. From March 2024, the ship will host seven-day round-trip Caribbean voyages from Miami before setting sail to Bermuda from New York for the summer of 2024.
