Anantara Shaoxing Resort: Luxury, Wellness and Nature Converge in Zhejiang Province by 2024

Minor Hotels and its Chinese joint venture partner, Funyard Minor JV Co., have announced the signing of a deal to open the Anantara Shaoxing Resort in northeastern Zhejiang Province.

The resort, developed in collaboration with Shaoxing Lan Ruo Lake Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., will become the first internationally-branded resort in Shaoxing when its doors open in 2024.

Strategically perched on the slopes of Mount Kuaiji, the Anantara Shaoxing Resort will become the heart of the Taoyuanli Health and Wellness Town. This innovative mixed-use community will feature landscaped courtyards, playgrounds, top-tier restaurants, organic supermarkets, communal dining, and comprehensive health and wellness facilities catering to all ages.

Architecturally, the 120-key Anantara Shaoxing is set to stun. Drawing inspiration from a multi-deck luxury yacht, clusters of low-rise buildings cascade towards the shimmering Lanruo Lake. The resort will offer modern guest rooms and suites, a selection of dining options including an all-day dining restaurant and a tearoom serving China’s finest teas, a specialty restaurant, and a vast 700-square-metre banquet area.

Prioritizing health and wellbeing, the resort will integrate nature with state-of-the-art facilities such as a hot spring-fed outdoor swimming pool, a water landscape platform, Anantara Spa with yoga rooms, and a fitness center. Additionally, the resort will house a concert area, an art gallery, and a secluded library to provide guests with a multisensory experience.

Guests of the Anantara Shaoxing Resort can enjoy a wide range of activities. From exploring local farms, hiking scenic trails, off-roading, wall climbing, or indulging in recreational sports, the resort is poised to offer unforgettable experiences. They can also avail themselves of the health and wellness clinics within the Taoyuanli Health and Wellness Town, specializing in both traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

Mr. Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, expressed his excitement about the project, noting that “Eastern China has always been an important market for Minor Hotels” and highlighting Shaoxing’s cultural richness and pristine nature.

Mr. Sam Gao, President of Funyard Minor JV Co., (China), emphasized Shaoxing’s strategic position in the development of Hangzhou Bay’s southern coast, suggesting that “the arrival of Anantara fills a gap in the luxury hospitality and wellness segment and ensures Shaoxing is on track to achieve broader development goals.”

Anantara Shaoxing Resort, together with the recently announced Anantara Anji Resort, will mark the brand’s fourth property in China, joining the Anantara Guiyang Resort in Guizhou Province and Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort in Yunnan Province.
