Ritz-Carlton’s Ilma Superyacht Floats Out

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has reached a significant construction milestone, celebrating the successful float out of its latest superyacht, Ilma, at the renowned Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

This event marks the commencement of the next phase of construction, gearing up for its inaugural voyage in 2024.

The float out ceremony was a traditional maritime festivity, attended by The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s senior leadership, including Jim Murren, Executive Chairman and CEO, and Ernesto Fara, President and CFO, along with representatives from Chantiers de l’Atlantique, such as Laurent Castaing, General Manager, and Arnaud Le Joncour, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Ilma, translating to “water” in Maltese, is the second superyacht from The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, measuring an impressive 790-feet and featuring 224 light-filled suites, each with private terraces, accommodating up to 448 passengers. This superyacht is set to redefine luxury sea travel, offering expansive public spaces, one of the highest space ratios at sea, and the legendary service synonymous with The Ritz-Carlton brand.

The yacht’s aesthetic design, conceived by Helsinki-based design studio Aivan, is inspired by the elegance of private yacht design, blending modern craftsmanship with warmth and sophistication. The interiors, designed by renowned London-based firm AD Associates and award-winning lighting designer, DPA, promise a relaxed and refined atmosphere.

Ilma will offer guests a unique experience at sea with state-of-the-art technology, five distinct dining venues, a Ritz-Carlton Spa®, and thoughtfully curated itineraries, visiting coveted destinations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, with select ports of call in Central and South America, depending on the season.

Jim Murren expressed immense pride and excitement about the partnership with Chantiers de l’Atlantique and the dedication and craftsmanship involved in the construction of Ilma, anticipating the yacht’s inaugural journey next year.
