Marriott to Open New Hotels in Beijing’s National Convention Center

Marriott International, Inc. has signed an agreement with Beijing North Star Company Limited to introduce two of its prestigious brands, The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Marquis, to the China National Convention Center in Beijing.

Slated to open in 2026, this development marks a notable expansion of Marriott International’s presence in China’s capital city.

The introduction of the third Ritz-Carlton and the first Marriott Marquis Hotel in Beijing is a testament to Marriott International’s commitment to growth in Greater China, particularly in key cities. “We are excited to be working with Beijing North Star Company Limited on this landmark agreement,” said Gavin Yu, Chief Development Officer, Greater China, Marriott International. He emphasized that this move aligns with the company’s ‘Brand + Destination’ development strategy, showcasing Marriott’s dedication to bringing its portfolio of brands to desired travel destinations.

The China National Convention Center Phase II, where these hotels will be located, is a sprawling complex covering approximately 780,000 square meters. It includes not only hotels but also retail spaces, offices, leisure facilities, and extensive venues for high-level conferences, exhibitions, and events. Situated about 20 kilometers from Beijing Capital International Airport, the hotels will be conveniently located for both business and leisure travelers. Additionally, guests will find themselves within walking distance of several cultural attractions, including the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube), and the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.

The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, North, designed by the internationally acclaimed interior design firm Yabu Pushlberg Inc., is expected to feature 282 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites. The hotel aims to provide guests with refined dining experiences across six distinct venues and recreational facilities including an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and The Ritz-Carlton Spa. Moreover, the hotel will offer well-equipped conference and event facilities totaling 968 square meters.

On the other hand, the Beijing Marriott Marquis Hotel is anticipated to offer 671 guestrooms and suites. This hotel will cater to a range of tastes with an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, and a relaxed lobby bar and lounge (The Greatroom). Planned facilities also include a swimming pool and fitness center, as well as 3,207 square meters of conference and event spaces, including a Grand Ballroom, two Junior Ballrooms, and three meeting rooms. The hotel will also feature an executive club lounge – M Club. Guests can expect Marriott Hotels’ signature heartfelt service, modern design, comfortable spaces, and enriching experiences that blend leisure with business.

Weidong Li, Chairman of the Board, Beijing North Star Company Limited, expressed his delight in collaborating with Marriott International. “The project is a stepping stone in our journey to drive innovation through strategic signing. We look forward to delivering an unprecedented level of accommodation and service to visitors and local residents,” he said.

The addition of these two hotels underlines Marriott International’s strategy to enhance its luxury and premium brand footprint in China. It also reflects the growing demand for high-quality hospitality options in Beijing, especially in the context of large-scale events and conferences. The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Marquis brands are synonymous with luxury and exceptional service, and their presence at the China National Convention Center is poised to redefine the hospitality experience in Beijing.

As Marriott International continues to expand its global portfolio, the opening of these new hotels in Beijing’s National Convention Center is a clear indication of the company’s commitment to growth and excellence in the hospitality industry. With their strategic location, state-of-the-art facilities, and world-class service, The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, North, and Beijing Marriott Marquis Hotel are set to become landmarks in Beijing’s thriving hospitality scene.
