The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) unveils the third edition of its highly acclaimed Melbourne eGuide, an interactive tool designed to captivate and inform global conference, meeting, and incentive event planners about the unparalleled offerings of Melbourne.
Known as Australia’s events capital and a premier destination for business events, this edition of the eGuide showcases the city’s extensive cultural infrastructure, services, and unique experiences.
The eGuide is rich in content, featuring sections on how to maximize your experience in Melbourne’s vibrant Chinatown, with recommendations on venues, accommodations, dining, and entertainment options. It also shines a spotlight on historic venues with compelling stories, perfect for adding a unique touch to your next business event or incentive itinerary.
For international association event planners, the eGuide provides a case study on how Melbourne successfully hosted over 14,000 delegates from more than 120 countries during the mega Rotary International Conference. This section demonstrates the city’s impressive capabilities in catering to diverse cultural needs, including a focus on China-ready suppliers and Crown Melbourne’s exceptional services for large international groups, including Indian delegations.
This edition introduces the MCB Recommended Supplier Directory, a valuable resource for planning your business event in Melbourne. The eGuide also includes practical information, such as clickable icons for detailed venue capacities, and introduces readers to the latest additions to Melbourne’s business events scene, including new venues, luxury transportation experiences, hotels, and restaurants.
Julia Swanson, MCB Chief Executive, highlighted the success of the previous editions of the Melbourne eGuide, launched in late 2022 and early 2023. She noted that the data insights gathered demonstrate the eGuide’s value as a crucial destination awareness and planning tool, with over 8,000 visits, high content engagement, RFP requests, and numerous visits to featured MCB suppliers.
“The eGuide’s user-friendly layout, accessible design, and interactive map enable event owners, planners, and delegates to create custom itineraries, covering everything from site inspections to conference programs and travel plans,” Ms. Swanson stated. She also emphasized the practical content that generates high engagement rates, such as walkable conference program ideas with a cultural twist, showcasing how delegates can seamlessly navigate Melbourne’s iconic heritage and culture.
The new walkable conference programs feature an embedded interactive map, helping planners visualize locations and distances between suggested hotels and venues. Additionally, the guide provides tips for delegates on where to stop along the way to enjoy Melbourne’s world-renowned coffee, laneway bars, and shopping.
