Hong Kong’s tourism industry is set for a major transformation with the introduction of the “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0.”
The strategic plan was presented by Angelina Cheung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, during the PATA Power of Networking and Luncheon 2025, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on February 20.
The event, hosted by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in partnership with Exhibition Group and Plaza Premium Group, brought together over 20 key travel and tourism leaders from Hong Kong SAR and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), including representatives from the Tourism Commission, Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau; the Macao Government Tourism Office; the Hong Kong Tourism Board; Shangri-La Group; Trip.com, and the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to name a few.
A highlight of the event was a keynote speech by Ms. Angelina Cheung, JP, Commissioner for Tourism, HKSAR Government, who presented the “Development Blueprint for Hong Kong’s Tourism Industry 2.0.” This strategic plan outlines Hong Kong SAR’s vision to consolidate its position as a world-class premier tourism destination by integrating tourism with culture, sports, ecology, and mega events. Ms. Cheung later participated in a fireside chat and an interactive Q&A session.
The event was also graced by the presence of Mr. Soon-Hwa Wong, PATA Ambassador for Greater China, underscoring PATA’s commitment to engaging with its members in Hong Kong SAR and the GBA.
Following the event, attendees joined the official opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Holiday & Travel Expo 2025, a B2C event featuring over 300 booths. The four-day expo set a new attendance record of over 250,000 visitors, with a 27% increase in foot traffic compared to the previous year.
Soon-Hwa Wong, PATA Ambassador for Greater China, stated, “The PATA Power of Networking event serves as a vital platform for industry leaders to connect, collaborate, and drive the future of travel and tourism across the Asia Pacific. With Hong Kong SAR’s strategic position as a global tourism hub, this event fosters meaningful connections among tourism stakeholders.”
He added, “PATA is proud to collaborate with Exhibition Group and Plaza Premium Group to strengthen public-private partnerships and ensure the continued growth and resilience of the tourism sector.”
