The International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), under the management of ASM Global, proudly announced its first batch of graduates from its 12-month High Performance Program.
This intensive initiative was designed to elevate the centre’s operations and people development pathways.
The program encompassed a series of rigorous leadership workshops that delved into convention centre business management, self-discovery, and culminated in the completion of the Australian Institute of Management’s Mini Master of Business Administration. In the concluding phase, participants were divided into two teams, each tasked with addressing a specific business challenge.
Geoff Donaghy, ICC Sydney’s Chief Executive Officer, lauded the participants for their unwavering dedication to innovation and professional growth. “Our commitment to professional development, combined with our team’s ingenuity, ensures that ICC Sydney remains a leader in event management and technical delivery,” Donaghy remarked. He further highlighted the venue’s culture that promotes impactful innovations, such as the event planning tool and the leadership pathway strategy.
Luke Fleming, ICC Sydney Director of Human Resources, emphasized the venue’s holistic approach to career development. “ICC Sydney is more than just a venue; we provide avenues for long-term career growth. Witnessing the culmination of this year-long program with our high-performing group was truly rewarding,” said Fleming.
The inaugural cohort comprised of six senior team members: Adrian Slingsby, Andrew Durbridge, Dana Fish, Erin Rugg, Jack Crozier, and Sandra Rae.
ICC Sydney’s commitment to professional development is evident in its array of programs, from entry-level initiatives like the AV Graduate Program to the Professional Growth Traineeship Program. These programs have been instrumental in attracting and retaining emerging talent in the events industry.
In the fiscal year 2023, ICC Sydney onboarded 14 new trainees, conducted over 260 training courses, and invested more than 7,000 training hours, further solidifying its reputation as a top employer in the events sector.
