ICC Sydney Celebrates Resurging Entertainment Events

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) welcomes thousands of visitors to Sydney’s iconic Darling Harbour precinct with the upturn of entertainment events and its highest selling show to date.

Australian singer and songwriter, Guy Sebastian, has kicked off one of Australia’s biggest national tours in 2022 — Guy Sebastian’s T.R.U.T.H. Tour — drawing over 25,000 patrons to ICC Sydney’s Aware Super Theatre across five shows from late April to early June.

Achieving unprecedented ticket sales for Aware Super Theatre as the venue’s highest selling and longest running entertainment event to date, the T.R.U.T.H Tour is set to become one of 2022’s most anticipated tours.

ICC Sydney CEO, Geoff Donaghy, said the return of entertainment events across ICC Sydney’s theatre venues since restrictions eased in February signified a critical point in the revitalisation of the city centre as visitors were once again welcomed through ICC Sydney’s doors with flow-on benefits reaching through the venue’s long supply chain.

Remaining open throughout the last two years to deliver events in line with New South Wales Government health regulations, the venue invested in the development of new products, services, and upskilling and expanding its team to prepare for the revival of events and to optimise the visitor experience.

“Entertainment events are back on the agenda, and it’s gratifying to see the impact they have in rejuvenating our city as we welcome back thousands of patrons to our venue. The significance of live entertainment events to connect individuals together through memorable experiences and provide substantial social and economic benefits to the performing arts industry as well as our wider economy cannot be overlooked.

“We congratulate TEG Live and Guy Sebastian on the success of the T.R.U.T.H. Tour and look forward to welcoming Sebastian and Bella Taylor Smith to the Aware Super Theatre stage for the last show of the tour on 4 June, as well as the raft of internationally recognised artists who are scheduled to perform here in 2022,” Donaghy said.

Reflecting on the unprecedented national support for the T.R.U.T.H. Tour, Guy Sebastian said: “The response we have received for this tour has been truly unbelievable! I am beyond grateful for all the support and love from my incredible fans. Touring with the very talented Bella Taylor Smith is also such a treat. The gift of music brings joy, celebration and togetherness – that’s something to look forward to in 2022!”

Due to surging demand, live entertainment promoter, TEG Live, announced a fifth and final show to Sebastian’s Sydney leg at Aware Super Theatre, expanding to a total of 20 shows across his national tour. The final Sydney installation on Saturday, 4 June 2022 is on track to sell out as with the four shows scheduled across April and May.

Aware Super Theatre will welcome a line up of both local and international acts including the Teskey Brothers, Sigur Rós, London Grammar, Arijit Singh, Liam Gallagher, Jimmy Barnes and 2Cellos among others, whom are set to draw 170,000 patrons to the venue and Sydney CBD in 2022.
