Saudi Arabia Steps into Spotlight: Set to Host the 16th World Esports Championship

As the curtains were drawing on the 15th World Esports Championship, the International Esports Federation (IESF) made a momentous announcement: Saudi Arabia will play host to the 16th World Esports Championship in 2024.

The International Esports Federation (IESF) announced a record-breaking 130 registered Member Federations for the National Qualifiers of the World Esports Championship 2024. For the first time, a total of 609 teams will compete across five game titles representing their countries. The 16th World Esports Championship will be held from 11-19 November 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This marks a monumental step for Saudi Arabia as it will be the first time the nation hosts this globally recognized event.

HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Sultan Al Saud, President of the Saudi Esports Federation, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm. “We are thrilled to host the IESF’s 16th World Esports Championship in Saudi Arabia,” he commented, emphasizing Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to not only host a world-class event but to reflect their deep passion for esports.

The Prince extended a warm invitation to esports enthusiasts from across the globe, promising an unforgettable championship experience in Riyadh, the heart of Saudi Arabia.

IESF President, Vlad Marinescu, shared this excitement, underscoring the significance of Saudi Arabia as the next host country. He expressed eagerness in partnering with Saudi Arabia, the local organizing committee, and the Saudi Esports Federation. As the global esports community awaits further details on the championship’s 2024 dates and specifics, the announcement has undoubtedly set the stage for another historic event in the ever-evolving world of esports.

2023 World Esports Championship Finals officially kicked off on August 25 with a grand Opening Ceremony at the Palace of Culture in Iași, Romania. A record number of 111 countries from six continents have qualified and competed for national pride and the coveted WE Championship trophy. The competition concluded on September 4.
