Matka Travel Fair, Northern Europe’s premier travel industry event, has announced Spain as its partner country for the 2024 edition.
Scheduled for January 19–21 in Helsinki, the partnership will manifest through Spain’s extensive exhibition stand, captivating stage programs, and joint marketing endeavors.
Spain has long been a favored destination for Finnish travelers, known for its varied landscapes, including the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts, historical mainland, and stunning archipelagos. This makes Spain an all-season travel destination, ideal for every type of tourist.
Julio E. Jiménez Novella from the Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki said, “We are honored to be chosen as the partner country. This offers us the chance to provide Finns with the latest destination information and travel tips for Spain. We aim to showcase not just new locations but also fresh experiences in traditional destinations.”
According to Statistics Finland, from January to April 2023, Finns took 1.44 million overseas leisure trips with at least one overnight stay. Spain was the top destination, accounting for 300,000 of these trips. Spain also ranked second in package travel destinations in 2022, with the Canary Islands attracting the majority of Finnish tourists.
As Noora Haatainen, Business Manager of Matka Travel Fair, puts it, “Spain has always been a hit with Matka Travel Fair attendees. We’re excited to provide Spanish exhibitors the platform to interact with visitors, allowing them to delve deeper into the wonders that Spain offers.”
Matka Fair 2024 will focus on responsible travel experiences, culinary journeys, outdoor activities, and family-friendly adventures, aligning perfectly with Spain’s objectives and offerings as a modern travel destination.
