Global Tourists Flock to Thriving Antalya

Antalya, a global tourist magnet, continues to buzz with tourism activities, attracting millions from across the globe.

Based on the data provided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, from January 1 to August 31, the city has been visited by 10,835,204 individuals. Among them, 10,209,855 were international tourists, and 625,349 were Turkish citizens residing abroad.

In this eight-month period, Russia led the list of countries sending the most tourists to Antalya, with a total of 2,379,216 visitors, marking a 32.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Germany followed closely, contributing 2,108,816 visitors to Antalya, experiencing a 17.34% rise in the number of tourists. The third and fourth places were occupied by the United Kingdom and Poland, witnessing a 14.58% and 39.2% increase respectively in their citizen’s visits to this Turkish city. The Netherlands, Kazakhstan, and Romania also prominently featured in the list of countries sending the most tourists.

Antalya, in August alone, saw a 10.45% increase compared to the previous year, with 2,604,832 tourists choosing it as their travel destination. The country-wise data for August places Russia again at the top, with 525,337 visitors. Germany with 470,211 visitors, the United Kingdom with 205,569 visitors, and Poland with 199,929 visitors followed suit. The Netherlands, Romania, and Kazakhstan also showed substantial tourist numbers visiting Antalya in August.

The continued surge in tourism numbers in Antalya illustrates the city’s enduring appeal as a prime destination offering a mix of historical, cultural, and leisure experiences to international visitors. This uptick in tourist visits reflects the growing global interest in the cultural richness and scenic beauty that Antalya, the tourism capital of Turkey, has to offer. (AA)
