Husnu Ozyegin is in talks to take a 50% stake in Aliee Hotel, part of the Tersane Istanbul development in the city. The discussions involve Fettah Taminceās investment in the project, according to information from reliable sources cited in the original report.
The talks are understood to have been under way for some time and are said to be moving in a positive direction. No final agreement has yet been signed.
The possible deal comes as Tamince looks at new financing models to spread risk across the project, after homes sold under a 49-year lease model reportedly did not attract the expected level of investor interest and rising investment costs increased pressure on the scheme.
Tersane Istanbul is one of the largest mixed-use tourism and property developments in Istanbul. It has become a prominent meeting point for business leaders, with venues such as Aliee and Mondaine attracting a growing number of Turkish and international executives.
Among those said to have met there recently are Husnu Ozyegin, Ali Sabanci and Ali Koc. The project is now seen not only as a real estate development but also as one of the new social hubs of the business world.
The reported negotiations add another layer of interest to a project that has already drawn attention because of its scale and location on Istanbulās historic waterfront. For now, the potential partnership remains under discussion, with both sides still evaluating the structure of any final deal.
