Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport welcomed its first scheduled international flight after the travel restrictions were lifted. Domestic flights have been running successfully since June.
Operated by TAV Airports, Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport welcomed the first international flight after Covid-19 lockdown. The flight with its 166 passengers arrived the airport from Helsinki, Finland. The FinnAir aircraft was greeted by a water cannon salute upon arrival.
TAV Gazipaşa General Manager Ekrem Akgül said, “We are happy to welcome our passengers and scheduled flights at our airport. With the end of travel bans in early June, we started to serve domestic flights. Thanks to the comprehensive measures we have implemented with our stakeholders, we have carried out a smooth operation until today. Today, we welcomed our first international flight. In this process, under the coordination of the Ministry of Transport, we would like to thank General Directorate of State Airports Authority, Directorate General of Civil Aviation and airlines as well as local government and NGOs and all our stakeholders. We hope that our international flights will continue to increase in the coming period, and we will welcome our guests from all over the world,”.
During the summer season, FinnAir will initially fly once a week between Gazipaşa and Helsinki. Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport is preparing to welcome the first passengers from Russia this season on August 10th.
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport implemented the “Airports Pandemic Precautions and Certification Circular”, issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM). The staff is trained regarding the new regulations and code of conduct.
The precautions taken at the airport can be grouped under three main areas.
Firstly, it has been mapped the movement of passengers and staff inside the airport and configured a flow that would enable everyone to keep safe physical distance with others in every step of the way. Secondly, the airport operator has increased the frequency of disinfection and hygiene works. Thirdly, they have made arrangements to minimize contact between passengers and airport staff.
To protect yourself and others, you are required to wear a mask at all times during your journey in the airport. Passengers without a mask will not be allowed inside the terminal and will not be able to board the plane. Irregularity to comply with this rule may result in penalties.
