Pegasus launches 4 weekly Istanbul – Alicante flights

Pegasus Airlines has started direct flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Alicante on Spain’s Costa Blanca, expanding the airport’s European network and adding a new Mediterranean route for travellers.

The service operates 4 times a week between Sabiha Gokcen and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport. The flight time is about 4 hours 10 minutes, and the route gives passengers direct access to one of Spain’s best-known coastal destinations.

The new route is Sabiha Gokcen Airport’s fifth destination in Spain. Airport and airline officials said the link should strengthen tourism and business ties between Türkiye and Spain.

A special opening ceremony marked the launch of the route, drawing senior figures from the airport and airline, along with diplomatic and commercial representatives. Among those present were Kerem Maybek, Deputy General Manager for Commercial Affairs and Strategy at Sabiha Gokcen Airport, and Ali Mehmet Uyar, Operations Director.

From Pegasus, Sales Director Emre Pekesen and Sales Manager Burcu Alin Ardali attended the event. Eren Lea Karsli, representative of the Spanish Tourist Office, and M. Gizem Meral, representative of the Trade Office in Türkiye, also took part.

At the ceremony, officials highlighted the new connection as a bridge between the 2 countries. They said it would help bring the regions closer through leisure travel and trade.

The terminal was decorated with a Costa Blanca and Spain theme for the launch. Passengers received handheld fans and souvenir gifts at the check-in area, creating a festive atmosphere around the new service.

The route adds another option for travellers flying between Türkiye and Spain at a time when Mediterranean destinations remain popular. Alicante now joins Pegasus’s growing network from Istanbul, giving passengers more direct access to Spain’s eastern coast.
