Pegasus Airlines has launched daily direct flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and London Gatwick Airport, expanding travel options between Türkiye and the United Kingdom. The new service began today and strengthens Sabiha Gökçen’s position in the UK market alongside existing flights to London Stansted.
The route operates daily in both directions using modern Airbus A320 family aircraft, with a flight time of approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes. The service provides travellers with an additional London airport option while improving connectivity between Istanbul and one of Europe’s busiest aviation markets.
The new route links two airports that serve large metropolitan regions and offer extensive onward connections. London Gatwick is one of the United Kingdom’s busiest airports, handling more than 40 million passengers annually and providing direct rail and road links to central London.
The airport’s transport connections are expected to appeal to both business travellers and tourists seeking quick access to the British capital. London remains one of the world’s leading centres for finance, commerce, culture and tourism, generating strong year-round demand for international travel.
The launch also strengthens commercial and cultural ties between Türkiye and the United Kingdom. London’s large Turkish community continues to support demand for travel between the two countries, while the route creates additional opportunities for tourism and business exchanges.
Passengers departing from Gatwick will also gain access to Pegasus Airlines’ wider network through Istanbul. Via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, travellers can connect to destinations across Türkiye as well as cities in the Middle East, the Caucasus, the Balkans and Central Asia.
The airline expects the route to support both direct passenger traffic between London and Istanbul and a growing number of connecting travellers using Istanbul as a transfer point.
Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport currently provides access to 157 airports, including 118 international and 39 domestic destinations, through 22 airlines serving 152 cities in 55 countries. Airport officials expect the addition of London Gatwick flights to further strengthen the airport’s presence in the European market and enhance its connectivity with the United Kingdom.
Located on Istanbul’s Asian side, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport continues to expand its role as a major aviation hub, supported by modern infrastructure, metro and motorway connections, and a growing international route network.
