Pegasus Airlines has launched direct flights between Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, expanding its European network with a new connection linking Türkiye’s Aegean coast to Spain’s cultural hub. The route began on 24 October and will operate twice weekly, strengthening tourism and trade ties between the two Mediterranean cities.
The new Izmir–Barcelona service will operate on Mondays and Fridays, with flights departing Izmir at 10:55 and returning from Barcelona at 14:30 on the same days. After the switch to wintertime on 27 October, Barcelona departures will move to 13:30. A third weekly flight, operating on Sundays, will be added from 7 December 2025. Tickets are available through flypgs.com, the Pegasus mobile app, and authorised travel agents, with fares starting from £49.99 (€54.99).
Strengthening Mediterranean Connections
Pegasus Airlines, Türkiye’s leading low-cost carrier, said the new route is designed to meet rising demand for affordable travel between Southern Europe’s major coastal destinations. The airline currently operates an extensive network across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, and continues to expand as part of its 2025 growth strategy focused on connectivity and accessibility.
Expanding European Reach
The Izmir–Barcelona route adds to Pegasus Airlines’ growing list of European destinations from Izmir, which already include London, Rome, Paris, and Berlin. The airline has positioned Izmir as a key western hub, offering both point-to-point and connecting services for leisure and business travelers.
The connection is also expected to boost visitor traffic between Türkiye and Spain, two of Europe’s most popular tourism markets. Izmir, known for its Aegean beaches, historical sites, and relaxed lifestyle, continues to attract a growing number of European visitors. Barcelona, in turn, remains one of the continent’s most visited cities, renowned for its architecture, cuisine, and cultural attractions.
With competitive pricing and flexible scheduling, Pegasus aims to make Mediterranean travel more accessible while contributing to the recovery of regional air connectivity. The launch further reinforces the airline’s commitment to expanding international operations and strengthening cross-border travel within Europe.
