Turkish Airlines (TK) and Air Algérie (AH) have signed a Codeshare Agreement on routes between Algeria and Turkey, which is set to further expand travel opportunities for the customers of the two airlines. The agreement will be effective as of May 15, 2016.
The signing ceremony took place in Alger. Air Algérie’s CEO Mohamed Abdou Bourdebala and Turkish Airlines Deputy Chairman and CEO Temel Kotil, PhD. signed the deal in the presence of officials from both sides.
This new code share agreement is bound to broaden the commercial partnership between the two companies. At the same time, passengers of both airlines will be given more travel options between Algeria and Turkey.
Under the terms of the agreement, Air Algérie and Turkish Airlines will place their carrier codes on each other’s flights reciprocally between Istanbul – Algiers and Istanbul – Constantine. In this respect,, Air Algérie will place its carrier code on Turkish Airlines’ flights on Istanbul – Oran v.v., Istanbul – Tlemcen v.v. and Istanbul-Batna v.v.In addition to this, Turkish Airlines will place its carrier code on Air Algérie’s flights on the routes of Alger – Sabiha Gokçen v.v., Oran – Sabiha Gokçen v.v. and Annaba – Istanbul v.v. The agreement might also enable the two carriers to put their codes on the flights to other destinations operated beyond the two capitals in the future.
Mohamed Abdou Bouderbala expressed his satisfaction with this commercial partnership with a well-established and rapidly growing carrier like Turkish Airlines, which enjoys a broad route network.
He also expressed that they are happy to conduct the first codeshare agreement of AH and said this success is a crucial experience for them. Bouderbala also stated that he is confident that this cooperation will be fruitful for both sides and will be enlarged very soon.
Temel Kotil, PhD said, “We are extremely pleased to sign this codeshare agreement with Air Algérie and aim to improve our partnership to maximize the travel opportunities offered to our passengers through the networks of both airlines. As Turkish Airlines, we are operating scheduled flights to five different cities in Algeria from Istanbul and we do all our best to establish vital bridges between the two countries on these services by mutual cooperation. We are very proud of being the first codeshare partner of Air Algérie and believe that this partnership will bring enormous benefit to both airlines from a commercial perspective in rapidly growing relations between our countries.”
