Argentines love wine, especially their signature Malbec. The Argentine capital celebrates Global Malbec Day (April 17) with Malbec Week, a week of wine-filled festivities from April 16 – 22 that will celebrate its fourth edition this year.
Malbec Week will take place at Espacio Jakim from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with a large fair and Malbec tastings from various wineries. The event will also feature live music, raffles and food pairings from neighborhood establishments that will enable visitors to better appreciate the wines. Tickets to the event cost $15 – all proceeds will be donated to various local health and family associations. Visitors who want to take home some wine will find several participating wineries offering promotions.
To celebrate Global Malbec Day there will be a special event on April 17 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Teatro San Martin that will recreate the traditional Vendimia Festival (Grape Harvest Festival), which traditionally takes place annually in Mendoza, Argentina – the mecca of Argentinean wine. This festival is one of the most important in the country and celebrates wine and the wine-making industry. The recreation narrates the story of the festival with stunning audiovisuals and with the presence of the National Folkloric Ballet.
