Allegro High-Speed Train Service

International Allegro High-Speed Train Service Breaks Record in 2019

Since international high-speed Allegro services between St. Petersburg and Helsinki were launched on 12 December 2010, Allegro trains have carried more than 3.8 million passengers.

Russian Railways announced that in 2019, 557,200 passengers traveled on Allegro trains, 15.7% more than in 2018. In December 2019, Allegro trains carried 46,000 passengers, 15.3% more than in December 2018.

Allegro trains have become increasingly attractive to passengers due to flexible fares and marketing initiatives, as well as more flexibility when buying tickets. On days when demand is particularly high, dual trains with double the usual number of carriages are laid on. In addition, the modernisation of all Allegro trains was completed in 2019 with the aim of increasing passenger comfort.

Allegro high-speed trains account for about 86% of the total traffic on the rail link between Russia and Finland.

Passengers can obtain detailed information about Allegro timetables and fares, and also purchase tickets, from rail ticket offices, the official website of Russian Railways, and the RZD Passengers mobile app.

When selling tickets, settlements are made in roubles at the exchange rate established by the Central Bank of Russia on the day the tickets are booked.
