Russian Railways’ Passenger Traffic increases in July 2019

Russian Railways announced the latest statistics of its rail passenger business segment. According to the stats, almost 108.4 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure of Russian Railways in July 2019, 2.6% more than in the same month last year.

A total of 682.2 million passengers were transported in the seven months of 2019, an increase of 4.3% compared to January-July 2018. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 66.5 million, an increase of 5.9%, while suburban passengers increased to 615.7 million, up 4.2%.

Since the beginning of 2019, passenger turnover on the network owned by Russian Railways has increased by 3.4% compared to last year and amounted to 75.1 billion passenger-kilometres. Suburban passenger turnover during January to July 2019 amounted to 19.5 billion pass-km, up by 4.9%, while long-distance turnover rose 3% to 55.6 billion pass-km.

Since the beginning of 2019, 81.6 million passengers have been transported on the Moscow Central Ring (MCC), 15.3% more than during the same period last year. Almost 348.7 million passengers have used the MCC’s services since it began operations on 10 September 2016.

A record number of passengers on the MCC since its opening was recorded on 3 April 2019, when it carried 561,956 customers.
