Emirates Flight Catering, one of the world’s largest catering operations, has fully acquired Emirates Bustanica, formerly called Emirates Crop One, and its consumer brand Bustanica, the world’s largest indoor vertical farm.
This move not only rebrands Emirates Bustanica with a new consumer face, Bustanica, but also aligns with the UAE’s strategic vision for bolstering its food and water security and agricultural prowess.
The acquisition marks a pivotal moment for Emirates Bustanica, positioning it as an entirely UAE-owned entity. This change is expected to fuel the company’s growth by tapping into local expertise and the latest technological advancements, thereby catering to the increasing market demands efficiently.
Strategically located near Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai World Central, the Bustanica facility sprawls over 330,000 square feet. It boasts an impressive capability to produce over 1 million kilograms of high-quality leafy greens annually, utilizing 95% less water compared to traditional farming methods.
Under the Bustanica brand, the company’s produce has found its way onto the shelves of major UAE retailers such as Spinney’s, Waitrose, Carrefour, and Choithrams. Additionally, Emirates and various other airlines serve Bustanica’s fresh produce, offering passengers a taste of premium, farm-fresh greens.
Since its inception in July 2022, Bustanica has quickly become a household name in the UAE. It is celebrated for its pesticide-free, nutrient-rich leafy greens, herbs, and microgreens, advocating for consumption straight from the box to preserve purity and nutritional value.
