Mauritius is known for taking the explorations of their underwater world seriously and has been offering real submarine rides to those who were after real underwater experiences even when they are non swimmers have now launched their very own ‘SubScooter’.
The Tropical Submarine Safari Ltd Company was at the Pret a Partir Travel Fair to showcase their underwater scooters. Benjamin Turquoise, the MD of the Company says, “While discovering the island’s underwater fauna and flora and its hidden reefs and depths, a throttle controls your forward speed and you steer the Blue Safari Subscooter underwater almost like an ordinary scooter.”
The Mauritius subscooter consists of an airtight capsule which once hermetically sealed allows the pilot and passenger to enjoy in comfort, protected by a transparent dome a panoramic underwater 360 degree view – both able to breath normally as the water inside only reaches the shoulders. The dive lasts just over half an hour at a dept of 3 meters offering the opportunity of the subscooter’s speed and direction, while enjoying the pleasure of sharing emotions and discoveries, with the added security of being supervised constantly by one of the dive guides.
