New Zipline Adventure Near Valencia for Thrill-Seekers

The longest double urban zip line in Europe has recently opened in the historic center of Cuenca, located about 2 hours away from Valencia, Spain.

This thrilling attraction covers a distance of 445 meters in just 30 seconds and reaches a maximum height of 120 meters while soaring over the breathtaking Hoz del Río Huécar. It is an ideal weekend plan for those seeking adventure outside Valencia.

It took four years and an investment of 400,000 euros, but the Las Hoces Cuenca Zip Line has finally been established as a new and exciting attraction in the city. Furthermore, Cuenca is set to be the Spanish Gastronomic Capital in 2023, and it boasts a blend of traditional tourist attractions, alongside modern contemporary art exhibits at spaces like the Museum of Abstract Art, Roberto Polo Collection, and Espacio Torner.

Beginning in the Castillo neighborhood situated in the elevated section of the old town, the zip line spans over 400 meters, concluding at the Camino de la Cueva de la Zarza, not far from the Cuenca National Tourism Parador. The zip line achieves a top speed of 70 to 80 km/h, which is slightly slower than the initially proposed speed.

The reason behind the reduction in speed is due to the privileged location of the zip line. The Hoz del Huécar area boasts a naturally stunning environment, while the city’s historic center, which has been designated as a World Heritage Site, also offers visitors the chance to experience iconic landmarks such as the Hanging Houses and the San Pablo Bridge.

That is why it has been decided that those who jump on this zip line do so equipped with a parachute, in order to slow down the speed and allow visitors to contemplate the views.

The requirements to be able to jump have to do with weight (minimum 40 kg and maximum 120 kg) and height (minimum 1.20 m and maximum 2.15 m).
