Sofia hosted Holiday & Spa Expo 2013

Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism; Delian Dobrev opened 30th anniversary edition of the International Tourism Fair "Holiday & Spa Expo 2013." The fair is held from 14 to 16 February at the Inter Expo Center in Sofia.

The expo is the largest tourism forum here. This year’s participants include 200 Bulgarian and 70 foreign companies, which is 50 companies more than last year. Beside Bulgaria, host country, Serbia, Turkey, Greece and Macedonia participated with its own pavilion.

The expo will be presented and exhibitors from Croatia, Italy, Austria, Spain, Russia, Holland, Germany, Hungary, as well as more exotic destinations - Indonesia, Tunisia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, India, Qatar, South Africa. For all visitors, the expo is a place where they can choose their favorite holiday destination.

With most offers for travel and holidays for Bulgarians come from representatives of Turkey, Macedonia and Serbia, which have the largest stands.

Serbia has advertised with billboards in Sofia after the last few years the number of Bulgarians traveled western neighbor, rose significantly. Serbia is the third most visited destination for Bulgarians after Greece and Turkey in 2012.

Macedonia renews their participation in the exhibition for the first time in five years after the dispute was the name that is displayed on its stand.

Dobrev Minister announced that in May 2013, Bulgaria will host the annual congress of the European Spas Association, which brings together professional organizations from 20 European countries.

Bulgaria is the second country in the world in most number of mineral springs in the world after Iceland. “Through this Congress and by today's tourism market, we hope to be able to attract more tourists and increase the share of spa tourism” minister said.

New to this year is the participation of Albanian tourism companies.

Cuba, Dominican Republic and Indonesia are among the more distant destinations that attract the interest of Bulgarian tourists.

Sea resorts can expect at least a 5 percent increase in tourists during the upcoming summer season. It predicted yesterday the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delian Dobrev at the inauguration of the International Tourism Fair "Holiday & Spa Expo 2013" in Sofia. In his words with so have increased and winter sports enthusiasts who prefer home ski centers.

"Bulgaria is a country of 7.5 million people, while attracting nearly 7 million tourists, whose number grows each year," added the Minister of Economy.

He said the tourism industry is doing very well thanks to all who work in this sector, rather than through the state. However, major markets want shared routes between Bulgaria and Turkey, said the minister, and the matter has been discussed with the cultural attaché of our southern neighbor.

Tourists can land in Istanbul to address the European part of the city, then to cross the border with Bulgaria where we have good quality wine tourism wineries, cultural and historical monuments, spa tourism in the region of Plovdiv and Sofia examining, described an example of a common path Economy Minister.
