Bench Events organizes Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Real Estate Forum next week

The first edition of the Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Real Estate Forum is gearing up to welcome delegates from 180 companies worldwide. The conference, which will be held in Madrid from 9th to 11th November, will bring together around 350 delegates from more than 30 different countries.

Jonathan Worsley, Chairman of Bench Events has highlighted “our commitment to the Mediterranean region with the launch of MR&H has achieved a great success, in particular among the community of investors who have a growing appetite for interesting opportunities in terms of hotels assets”. According to latest figures from Irea, a consultancy firm specialised in real estate and hotels, Spanish hotel investment jumped 54% compared to 2014, during the nine months to September 2015, 77 transactions were closed involving 15,800 rooms in Spain.

Worsley added “Spain is a good example of the opportunities offered by the real estate investment in hotels in the Mediterranean”. Irea expects that 2015 will exceed the previous record (€1.8 billion in 2006) and that the level of investment will be maintained in 2016.

MR&H will bring travel and tourism real estate developments to the table, to help showcase the master-plans and find investment. To this end, it is worth noting that the MR&H programme is attracting global senior management from the hotel investment industry.

Russell Kett, Chairman – HVS – London office; will be moderating one of the Keynote sessions; “Global CEO´s – The Mediterranean is the largest tourism market in the world”. The session will focus on what is hot, what is not, and what the desirables are. It will be held on Tuesday, 10th November from 12:45 to 13:45. Kett observes: “At every hotel investment conference delegates pay close attention to the views and messages of the CEOs panel, as they set the mood and direction of the entire event. No less so on this occasion. I look forward to encouraging Henri Giscard d’Estaing (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Club Med), Hugo Rovira (Chief Executive Officer, NH Hotel Group Spain, Portugal and Andorra) and Gabriel Escarrer (Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Meliá Hotels International) to share the key issues affecting their companies, and the sector generally, on which they are particularly focused at this time. What makes them – and their companies – tick?.

The industry’s main players and leaders will attend MR&H including Taleb Rifai, General Secretary of the World Tourism Organization and David Scowsill, President & Chief Executive Officer of the World Travel & Tourism Council who will introduce the forum on Tuesday 10th at 9.45. Mr. José Manuel Soria, Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, will be participating at the event too on Wednesday 11th November in the session “Challenges & Opportunities – The Mediterranean tourism leaders speak out”.
