Perla La Paz and Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Hilton Expands in Mexico with Two New Tapestry Collection Hotels in Baja California

Hilton has announced the expansion of its Mexican portfolio with the signing of two new Tapestry Collection hotels in Baja California, set to open in early 2024.

The 90-room Perla La Paz in La Paz and the 70-room Tropicana Los Cabos in San Jose del Cabo will mark the introduction of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton in the region. The development and launch of these hotels are being advised by Onirius Hospitality Advisors.

This expansion is part of Hilton’s ongoing strategy to enhance its presence in Mexico, a key market where the company already operates 90 hotels and has about 30 more in development. Mario Carbone, Hilton’s Managing Director of Development for Mexico and Central America, highlighted the Pacific Coast of Mexico as crucial in Hilton’s growth strategy. These hotel conversions represent Hilton’s efforts to introduce new brands and cater to the evolving needs of guests in Baja California.

Jenna Hackett, Tapestry Collection by Hilton’s brand leader, expressed excitement about adding these unique properties to their expanding portfolio. Both hotels, with their distinct personalities, aim to provide authentic experiences for guests exploring Baja California.

Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton Originally built in 1940, Hotel Perla recently underwent a $10 million renovation and will join Hilton as Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Situated in La Paz’s golden zone, the hotel offers stunning views of the Gulf of California and Ensenada de La Paz. It will feature a pastel pink façade, outdoor terraces, and a design that combines Art Deco history with modern elements. Amenities include a full-service restaurant, a signature lounge, a gym, a spa, and a pool and bar on the third level.

Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton Tropicana Los Cabos is located near San Jose del Cabo’s city center and is close to dining, art galleries, and shopping. The hotel showcases Mexican colonial style with its design and décor, including exposed dark-wood beams and authentic Mexican artwork. The property features 70 rooms, a restaurant with a glass bar, an open-air café, and a veranda.

Luis Ruiz of Onirius Hospitality Advisors, the principal advisor for both properties, emphasized the significance of partnering with Hilton for these conversions. Both Perla La Paz and Tropicana Los Cabos will be part of the Hilton Honors program, adding to Hilton’s award-winning Baja California portfolio, which includes Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal and Hilton Los Cabos. Hilton’s Caribbean and Latin America portfolio includes over 210 hotels, with around 115 more in development.
