More than a decade since its launch in 2008, this December, Mama Shelter returns to where the journey began – opening its second property in Paris and 12th hotel in the group’s global portfolio.
Located in the 15th arrondissement, Mama Shelter brings its unique brand of accessible hospitality to southwest Paris. This eclectic district has a neighborhood feel, where Parisians eat, work and play – busy avenues and romantic side streets are lined with shops, restaurants, markets, and boulangeries. One of the city’s leafiest districts, guests of Mama Paris West are steps away from Parc André Citroën and Parc George Brassens, with its famous aromatic garden.
The hotel is also minutes from the lively Porte de Versailles exhibition center. Known as a city within a city, Porte de Versailles is Europe’s largest exhibition complex, hosting hundreds of events every year. Just twenty-minutes from the city center – the hotel is far enough off the beaten track to escape the hustle and bustle, but close enough to the action – offering guests a well-priced option from which to explore the city.
Mama Paris West is an affordable boutique hotel with some serious design pedigree: hotel architecture by world-renowned architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and cutting-edge design elements by up and coming French designer Dion & Arles, featuring playful design and vibrant color palettes.
Mama Paris West is home to 207 rooms, where the emphasis on simplicity meets style, with king size beds, luxury linens, and 43” TVs with in-room entertainment systems. Each room comes complete with complimentary films (including XXX) , WiFi, and a selection of products from the MAMA SKIN range of organic amenities, designed in partnership with French skincare brand Absolution, and available to purchase in the store downstairs.
With 4000 square feet of space dedicated to communal areas including 9 ateliers and a lounge area, there is plenty of space to work, relax and meet for a drink. Guests can unwind in front of the open fire in the all-day restaurant or dine al fresco on the terrace, complete with its very own half-size basketball court – please dunk responsibly!
The lobby will shift through the day from meeting and working spaces to destination drinks and dancing, whilst the hotel rooftop will offer 360-degree views of the city – to be enjoyed whilst sipping on a cocktail, working out in the hotel gym or relaxing in the sauna. Guests can also create personal souvenirs of their Mama Shelter experience by designing and printing their very own t-shirts and totes at the hotel shop.
The Mama Shelter journey started in 2008 with the launch of Mama Paris East. Founded by the Trigano family – co-Founders of Club Med – and world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, Mama Shelter believed in launching in lesser-known, ‘out of the way’ neighborhoods in iconic cities, allowing guests to discover new creative corners with Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Belgrade, Prague, Toulouse, Lille and London. Today, Mama Shelter’s international footprint continues to grow with properties in Luxembourg, Bahrain, Dubaï, Santiago de Chile, Lisbon and more set to open by 2022.
As with all of Mama Shelter properties, Mama Paris West aims to be the rendezvous for visitors and locals alike, providing a witty and welcoming ‘home’ in West Paris. As much for its neighbors as for visitors from afar, Mama looks forward to welcoming its new family this Winter.
