Paris is named the world’s best city destination in 2023

Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations index has ranked cities from all over the world, based on factors such as tourism, health and safety, sustainability, and economic performance.

And which city came up on top? It was no surprise that Paris was ranked number one. Who doesn’t love the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Élysées, its wonderful, museums, people watching from the streetside cafes, designer boutiques, delectable cuisine, and all the romance that the city has to offer!

A new massive metro system, named the Grand Paris Express (GPE) has also been announced, which will more than double the territory encircling Paris with over 120 miles of new tracks, four new underground lines and 68 new metro stations.

European cities did very well, claiming seven out of the Top 10 including Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, and London.

Asian cities also did well across the top 20, with Singapore, Seoul, Osaka, and Hong Kong making the list. For the first time ever, Tokyo was ranked number 10.

Istanbul had the highest number of international arrivals in 2023, followed by London and Dubai.

More than 3.3 million Turkish citizens residing abroad vacationed in the country in the first eight months of 2023, bringing the total number of visitors to 36.75 million. Türkiye aims to welcome 60 million tourists and generate $56 billion in tourism revenues this year.

According to VisitBritain, the number of estimated tourists to the UK in 2023 will be 37.5 million and London is expected to receive 19.2 million overseas visitors in 2023. About 13.9 million people visited Dubai between January and October 2023.

Euromonitor International also reported that international travel is well and truly back, with projected trips to reach a whopping 1.3 billion by the end of 2023, and global tourism spending due to generate around $1.7 billion.
