Cardo Roma, Autograph Collection

Italian Capital Welcomes Cardo Roma, Autograph Collection

The Italian capital, renowned for its rich historical tapestry and vibrant cultural scene, is set to welcome Cardo, an all-new hospitality brand – with the opening of Cardo Roma, Autograph Collection. Opening in Q1 2024, this inaugural property from Cardo Hotels marks a significant milestone in the hospitality industry, blending the essence of Rome’s glorious past with a forward-thinking vision of luxury.

Located in the bustling Esposizione Universale Roma (EUR) district, Cardo Roma is more than just a hotel; it’s a symbol of future nostalgia. The property is an homage to Rome’s rich culture, combining the city’s historic charm with modern amenities and design. Originally designed by the renowned architect Lucio Passarelli, the hotel has undergone extensive renovations to offer 324 guestrooms and suites. These accommodations are not merely places to stay; they are creative hubs for travelers seeking both inspiring workspaces and meaningful cultural connections.

The essence of Cardo Roma lies in its name, inspired by the cardo, a north-south oriented street in ancient Roman cities that served as a central point of economic and social life. Nicolas Romero Oneto, Head of Cardo Hotels, elucidates, “The lively and energetic vision of the cardo has inspired our new hospitality concept. We aim to adapt uniquely to the aesthetics and culture of our location, perfectly fitting the Autograph Collection Hotels’ ethos of being ‘exactly like nothing else’.”

At Cardo Roma, guests can immerse themselves in a world where business meets pleasure in an environment steeped in luxury and comfort. The interior design, brought to life by the award-winning Amsterdam-based designer Saar Zafrir, reflects the indulgence and opulence of Roman times. Guests will be transported to an era of ‘otium’ – a time of freedom from commitments, savored through an elegant palette of olive green, warm terracotta, and off-white, complemented by playful geometry and dramatic arches.

Accommodations at Cardo Roma cater to the most discerning guests, with rooms spread across eight different categories. From the 50sqm POP Suites to the lavish 100sqm TOP Suite, each space is equipped with smart technologies and bespoke amenities. Moreover, the hotel boasts one of Rome’s largest meeting and event spaces, encompassing 3,100sqm, including a 1,400-capacity ballroom. This makes Cardo Roma a prime destination for both local and international gatherings.

Gastronomy at Cardo Roma is a tribute to Italian culinary art. The signature restaurant, Vertici, offers an authentic Italian dining experience, while Vertici Bar and the seasonal pool bar Spectio provide perfect settings for enjoying finely crafted cocktails and light bites. Complementing the dining experience is the Olea Wellness and Spa, a 1,200sqm sanctuary dedicated to rejuvenation. The spa’s design and treatments are reminiscent of ancient Roman bathing traditions, providing a therapeutic circuit that promotes the age-old philosophy of ‘mens sana in corpore sano’.

Cardo Roma is not just an addition to the city’s hospitality offerings; it represents a new chapter in the narrative of Rome’s lodging experience. It’s a place where the past and future converge, creating an atmosphere that is both familiar and innovative. With its personalized boutique approach, Cardo Roma redefines what it means to stay in the heart of Rome, offering guests a unique blend of work, leisure, and wellness.

The excitement surrounding the opening of Cardo Roma is palpable, as it promises to be a destination that encapsulates the spirit of Rome while setting new standards for luxury accommodation. This opening is just the beginning for Cardo Hotels, as they plan to expand their unique concept with the launch of Cardo Brussels, Autograph Collection, later in 2024.

As the Italian capital welcomes Cardo Roma, Autograph Collection, it reinforces its position as a city that not only preserves its illustrious past but also embraces the future of luxury and hospitality.
