Traveling to Jamaica Requires A Travel Authorization

Jamaica, a must-visit Caribbean island country known for its beautiful seas and miles of sandy beaches, striking landscapes, and incredible culture, has opened its borders for all international travelers on 15 June 2020 with some restrictions and requirements.

All travelers are required to get travel authorization

To get a travel authorization, you will be asked to enter your email address. A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to authenticate your account.

Then you will need to fill in the Personal, Health and Intended Stay in Jamaica information and complete the Immigration and Customs Form.

Your application will be reviewed and a Covid-19 health risk assessment conducted.

If successful, you will receive an email with your Travel Authorization. You need to save an electronic or printed copy of the Travel Authorization as you will need to show it to an airline agent at check-in, or when boarding your flight.

If your health risk assessment level is above the threshold, you will receive an email recommending you do not travel to Jamaica at this time.

Negative COVID-19 Result

All residents of the United States of America (USA), Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico or Panama who are 12 years of age or over, are required to obtain and present a negative COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test result to check-in for a flight.

Samples collected using home test kits (ex. Pixel by LabCorp), along with antibody tests will not be accepted.

The test must be conducted by a medical laboratory with either of the following credentials:

  • Accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP)
  • Registered by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
  • ISO 15189 certification

The date of the sample collection must be less than 10 days from the travel date to Jamaica. Example: For a travel date of October 20, the earliest the test sample may be collected is October 11.

Accepted Test Types

  • A Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (RT-PCR)
  • A Nucleic Acid Amplification test (NAA)
  • An RNA or molecular test
  • An Antigen test

Only results from oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal samples will be accepted for PCR tests

Only results from nasopharyngeal samples will be accepted for Antigen tests

Antibody tests will NOT be accepted

Results from home-based test kits will NOT be accepted

Where Can You Travel in Jamaica?

For the protection of locals and visitors alike, the Resilient Corridors were created to encourage safe tourism practices through the strict delivery of service that conform to a rigorous set of COVID-19 protocols and approved by the The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). Within the resilient corridor, the tourism service delivery operators permitted to accept guests have been inspected and are compliant with the required standards of training, protective equipment and processes. All employees and patrons of these facilities are required to observe the established protocols of hand hygiene, social/physical distancing and wearing of masks in public spaces.

The Resilient Corridors comprise two (2) parts:

Part 1: A Northern segment stretching from Negril in Westmoreland across the northern coastline to Port Antonio in Portland.

This part of the area spans approximately 294 Km and runs from the Western most point of the island starting on the road in front the Negril Light House at West End Road, running along the main coastal road in a Northerly direction to the Negril-Round-About.

From the Negril Round About along Norman Manley Boulevard which includes both seaward side and landward side and continues north towards the North Negril River Bridge/North Negril River Crossing.

From the North Negril River Crossing running East along the main road (A1/North Coast Highway) through Lucea, to Montego Bay to Alice Eldemire Drive North to the intersection of Alice Eldemire Drive and Howard Cook Boulevard then East along Howard Cook Boulevard to the intersection with The Queens Drive on to the A1 Road ( North coast Highway).

The boundary only takes into consideration the main road to the sea shore.

From the roundabout at the Sangster International Airport running East along the North coast highway through Falmouth Discovery Bay, Priory, St. Ann’s Bay, Mammee Bay, Ocho Rios, continuing on the North coast highway (A1 Road) to White River Bay, through Tower Isle continuing along the North Coast Highway through Boscobel through Oracabessa continuing east on the North Coast Highway through Galina continuing on the North Coast highway to Port Maria continue on the North Coast Highway to Trinity, Whitehall to Annotto Bay, Buff Bay, Orange Bay, Hope Bay, St Margaret’s Bay, Port Antonio to the entrance to Boston beach.

Part 2: A South Coast segment running from Milk River in Clarendon westward to Negril in Westmoreland

The boundary starts at Farquhar’s Beach going North along Milk River main road passing Milk River Hotel and Spa to the intersection at the Osbourne Store Main in Clarendon Park. Traveling west along the Clarendon Park Main Road then on the Toll Gate Main Road then onto Scotts Pass Main Road. Continue west along the Porus Main Road (A2) then on to the Winston Jones Highway. Traveling in a westerly direction, continue along the highway to the Spur Tree Main Road. Continue along through Goshen and Pepper districts travelling to the Santa Cruz Main Road. The boundary continues through the town of Santa Cruz then Lacovia and Holland Bamboo and then to Middle Quarters. Continue along the Middle Quarters Main Road (A2) to Luana. Travel along the Brompton Main Road through to the intersection of the Black River Main Road then on to the Crawford Main Road. Travel along to Font Hill Main Road then continue along to the border to St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland. Travel in a westerly direction to the White House Main Road through Bluefields, Caves, Ferris Cross, Paradise continue along the Smithfield Main Road to Savanna-La-Mar at the intersection of Barracks Main Road. Continue along Barracks Main Road to the intersection of Beckford Street. Travel southerly along Beckford Street to the intersection at Lewis Street. Continue west on Lewis Street to Darling Street. Travel north along Darling Street to the Llandilo Main Road (A2). Continue along to Little London through New Hope, Sheffield to Nonpareil Main Road. Continue to the roundabout at the intersection with Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril and intersects with the area described in Part I.

The boundary only takes into consideration the main road to the sea shore.

Kingston

Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. It faces a natural harbour protected by the Palisadoes, a long sand spit which connects the town of Port Royal and the Norman Manley International Airport to the rest of the island. In the Americas, Kingston is the largest predominantly English-speaking city south of the United States.

Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is a port town on the north coast of Jamaica. A former fishing village, it’s now a resort with a cruise ship harbor and a busy bay beach that’s lined with hotels. The surrounding parish of Saint Ann is home to rainforest, rivers and waterfalls. Dunn’s River Falls is a terraced, 180m mountain waterfall with lagoon pools, surrounded by trees.
