Event Model Generation course

Event Model Generation, San Diego State University, MPI Complete First Global Certificate Program

The Event Model Generation, in collaboration with San Diego State University and Meetings Professional International (MPI) completed the first Global Event Design Certificate program. The course took place in mid-August with follow-on programs occurring twice annually to help those in the industry increase the measurable value of high stakes events.

“The feedback was tremendous,” said Roel Frissen, CMM, co-founder of Event Model Generation and one of the three facilitators of the program alongside co-founder Ruud Janssen, CMM, DES and Story engagement engineer Dennis Luijer. “We utilized the Event Model Canvas, a visual chart with elements describing an event’s promise, how it helps stakeholders to get their jobs done, resolving pains and creating gains within a set framework of commitment and expected return. In doing so, we can demonstrate to those in attendance how to strategically make each event realize their full potential for both the organizers and participants.”

The program is highly interactive and is geared toward aligning all aspects of an event’s design with desired behavior change of each stakeholder. The workshop equips team leaders with the skills to consciously design an event, create prototypes and deliver strategic options and motivations to their business owners in relation to the customer journey and the instructional design of the event.

Global Event Design Certificate Program participants will receive 24 hours of continuing education credit along with a certification in Event Design upon completion of their design case study within 6 months of the program. The program is held twice annually, with the next sessions taking place in January and August of 2016.

“The process allows team innovation to emerge like no other training I’ve experienced. The event design solutions are imaginative, engaging, provocative and produce results. This process should be embraced not just by meeting planners, but business leaders who want real bottom-line impact from their event investment,” according to Ted Mooney, Senior Director at the Internet Society, having applied the process to a global hybrid event in July which drove him to attend to EDC program with his colleague Nicole Armstrong, CMP, CMM.

“Having gone through Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) and Certified Meeting Manager (CMM) programs, I thought this was my next step in education. EDC takes me a leap forward and the program was outstanding,” Michael Mach, CMP, CMM Conference Program Manager at ISACA.
