Egypt Introduces Visa on Arrival for Turkish Citizens

Turkish citizens will be able to enter Egypt by obtaining a visa on arrival, Türkiye’s charge d’affaires in Cairo announced.

“Our citizens will be able to enter Egypt without obtaining a visa in advance,” said Salih Mutlu Sen on Twitter.

While the Turkish official did not include details on the subject, no official statement has been made from Egypt yet.

Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Egypt have been maintained at the level of charges d’affaires since 2013.

Given the economic difficulties and increasing inflation in Egypt, the country aims to boost its tourism sector by 30% every year, with the goal of attracting 30 million tourists by 2028.

Last month, the Egyptian government announced that they will issue a special multiple-entry visa for a period of five years, with a USD 700 fee, for citizens of 180 countries.

Tourists holding a valid visa from the United Kingdom, the United States, the Schengen area, Japan, or New Zealand will be eligible to obtain the new visa upon their arrival at Egypt’s airports.

In 2022, Egypt received 11.7 million visitors, and it is predicted that there will be a 28% rise in the number of tourists in 2023.
